Because I’m such a ridiculously obsessed props person I find myself theorizing on why this particular set was chosen.
- It’s owned by Mrs. Hudson, she’s the type of person who takes some pride in her country, also it’s a delightful, cute set.
- The more likely idea, I think though is that it was a present from Mycroft. A sentimental tea set for queen and country. He figured this might be the one gift that Sherlock might actually use.
I don’t really see John buying something this fancy or frilly.
Also, Sherlock tends to go purely for function and not for “pretty”. This set is too delicate for him to purchase.
