Trailer for Some Girls

Over here at our projectionist’s site.

And trailer two. 

Playing now at my university theatre through next Saturday. 

At the end, you get a glimpse of the set I worked on (Prop Master/Scenic Carpenter for this show) and the projections and it is amazing. 

Please, please, please watch.

Tech for Some Girls today. Finally got see the set spinning with the projections together.

The walls are made of steel and scrim (mostly scrim). And the whole room is enclosed. 

Don’t mind my terrible cell phone quality photos.

This is the day we watched a Some Girls rehearsal inside a hotel room. (Well, we were out on the pool deck.)

It was a super awesome experience.

If your play takes place in a hotel room, GO DO THIS.

Magical prop update… of magic magicalness*.

Alrightly, so I’m well into budget land on Some Girls. Looking into furniture that’s not going to reach a total of $1500 (ie, lots of borrowing and thrift shopping to be done). 

And I’m in week 2 (3?) of meetings for Rent (auditions are soon). AND I JUST GOT A LOVELY ASSISTANT. HER NAME IS QUY. AND YOU SHOULD ADORE HER AS MUCH AS I DO. This is only the second time ever I’ve ever had an assistant ever. So I’m excited. 

Some Girls is going super smoothly. It is the best/smoothest show I’ve ever worked on.

Meanwhile, Rent is giving me doubts because of the assistant director. … He doesn’t really understand tech and our process… :| Also he’s kind of a dickbag.  That may just be my bias, but the guy doesn’t like me, and I find him grating and completely narcissistic.

But things will probably go fine. We’ll just have some obstacles is all. And because I have an assistant, my stress level will plummet (probably, hopefully).

Pictures of Some Girls and Rent will follow in the next couple of months. (Some GIrls opens in March, Rent in May). 

ALSO: Who’s going to USITT? Because I probably am. :D 

*Does not actually include any magic.
