Good luck to all the technicians (and actors) applying (and auditioning) for jobs there currently!
Break legs!

It’s also very weird that some of you might be interviewing to replace me at CPCC.
If you do end up with my position, know that your Prop Master is an amazing person. And the guy that hires you is an excellent dude.
Reasons:
- You can get a cool summer internship far away.
- If you get an internship: networking. (I still talk to my props master all the time).
- You can meet other awesome technicians. They have a fun tech mixer at the beginning of the conference. (I still talk to a props master/carpenter/scenic designer type that I met at SETC last year.)
- NETWORKING. (Meet people who can get you jobs!)
- Interview training. Even if you don’t get a job, you just got a ton of interview experience!
- Workshops. The classes are awesome.
- There’s a little expo with cool free stuff/samples.
- Looking for transfer/go to grad school? There’s all sorts of booths for that.
In summary: Go to SETC. You will not regret it.
Shhh, ignore all the other crap on my desk and notice the tech badge/lanyard we got from the SETC tech mixer the first night. Also, a Santa Fe Opera Production Department lanyard. Weeee!
THEATRE PEOPLE:
Who all is attending SETC (SouthEastern Theatre Conference) in Atlanta, Georgia this year?
At least six others from my university and myself are going with a staff member or two.
Just interested in who else might be attending.
I’m getting very close to registering for one of these two conventions:
USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology) in Charlotte, North Carolina
OR
SETC ( SouthEastern Theatre Conference) in Atlanta, Georgia.
So I ask of you, my technician followers: Have you ever been to either of these conventions? (Or heard about experiences at these conventions?) If so, how was it?
Right now I’m leaning toward SETC, because USITT is closing weekend on “Pirates of Penzance”, but I do have some flexibility because I’m a designer and not on crew.
